Teething seems to be a point in our children’s first years that can bring a lot of discomfort to not only them but us as well! I want to share the best natural 3 ingredient teething remedy! When babies are cutting teeth the can be fussy and not sleep which causes they to be even MORE fussy. When babies don’t sleep neither does mama, right? I can’t really remember when my first two were teething…either that or I just blocked it out of my memory. However, my (almost) one year old has been teething for quite awhile now and has been so fussy. Thank God I have my little oil collection to come to the rescue.
When babies don’t sleep neither does mama, right?
Before I started using essential oils I was still cautious about giving my children medicine. Even though medicines are DR. approved…something just felt off about loading my baby up with Tylenol for every little discomfort they may have. However, I regret that when Ellie was a baby I did not question as much as I should have. She was on antibiotics several times in her first year and looking back now I can see that it was completely unnecessary. That’s why I am so passionate about using essential oils regularly because they help us to stay above the wellness line. You don’t have to treat the problem once it’s already too late…just take preventative care!
I have incorporated oils over the past year and made other lifestyle changes. I can honestly say I have not been sick in the past year! This is a huge statement because I am someone who has been continually sick my entire life. I’ve been on antibiotics more times than I can count and have actually begged my Dr. to take out my tonsils. (As recently as two years ago…he said no) Oils are such amazing natural support for our bodies and gentle enough to use on our children. It doesn’t get much better than that!
My go-to oils for teething
So, I want to share what I have in my mama kit for teething babes. These are my go-to oils…. Lavender, Copaiba and Clove. They are by far the best natural 3 ingredients to use for teething and discomfort! Each of them is amazing in their own way and have SO many uses..
- +Lavender is soothing and so gentle which I’m assuming this is why Young Living’s baby line (Seedlings) is based on this oil! It is great support for minor skin irritations and can help calm a child who is going through those rough teething days!!
- +Copaiba is nicknamed the “fireman’ because it is great support for inflammation throughout the body. It’s another gentle vitality oil that is great for using on children. Plus, it smells amazing!
- +Clove is a tooth ache remedy that has been used for decades.. Before I knew anything about essential oils I had heard of people using clove oil on their gums. I thought it was a weird wives tale….like I said this was BEFORE I learned about how amazing these God given oils are! Now I am so excited every time a learn about another natural remedy to common problems using essential oils! Clove is one of the ‘hotter’ oils so you can just mix it with a little coconut oil if you are going to use it on your children’s gums! (put a dab of coconut oil in your hand and a drop of clove)
I personally just rub Lavender and Copaiba straight on my children’s jawline but if you are more comfortable with diluting all of them that works too! You are the best judge of what works for your family and children. Since I am giving the oils to a friend to try I am going to dilute them. I added the drops and then topped the rest of the bottle with jojoba (my favorite carrier!)
- 2 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Clove
- 3 drops of Copaiba
FDA warnings again OTC oral pain medications
I love that we have the option for the best natural remedies to use our families! The FDA has warned against using products that contain Benzocaine on infants and small children. Benzocaine is the local anesthetic that is found in many over the counter products for oral pain.
